Things are so different here in Florida. Even though we've got the same commercials, and the stores are decorated, it's not even close to feeling like the holidays because it's not cold. It isn't until I get to Washington in mid-December that I start feeling like it's really the Christmas season (even with my tree up).

Maybe part of that is because when I was still living in Washington the beginning of the holidays started the week of Thanksgiving with family activities...getting our Christmas trees, participating in some community events.

I do love Christmas. I love the lights on houses, I love the trees with lights and ornaments. But my favorite thing is it is just family time...we do a lot of family focused things.

I am sure it will look lovely by the time snow arrives, our snow here is almost always precluded by an ice storm, so most of our snows are not pretty with all the broken trees and mess from an ice storm. Sounds like a lot of work but will bring pleasant memories as time goes on, to you an early Merry Christmas!!

I used to love decorating for Christmas would start right after Halloween. would set up a light display that danced to music. all ways had people stop and look at it.

But things change, life gets in the way, stuff happens. Just not into it like I used to be.

Hope you get everything up in time and enjoy the holidays.

I love snow, as long as it's not butt deep and twenty below, lol. Slow quiet snow is beautiful, slowly falling with light reflecting off of it, bottle of wine and the opportunity to sleep in in the next morning under the warm covers, can't be beaten.

What happened to the rule about setting up Christmas decorations after Thanksgiving? lol

My favorite part about Christmas is that I get two weeks off.

We decorated the interior of the house this past weekend. Well the first half anyway. We have a tradition of going and buying a tree the day after Thanksgiving. We used to go cut one down, but they started looking too scrawny. So now we go buy a big tree, bring in home and decorate it the Friday after Thanksgiving.

The following Sat, is the outdoor lights.

I love Christmas. My youngest loves Christmas..she's had her countdown app running on her phone since the day after last christmas. LOL

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!

Except it's too cold. LOL

In reality, I don't like the snow and ice.
My daughters are like you when it comes to holidays...
I used to decorate the house and trees but then the power bill got too high to continue.
I haven't been bitten by anything yet...but when I do, I get busy!

You think it's still far too early, then realise it's only six weeks today.

I know it starts early in order to allow people to spread the cost, but I still feel it gets earlier year after year.

So long as they don't start playing those horrible Christmas songs until the final week. I don't mind Dropkick Murphys - The Season's Up On Us though.

You have inspired me, well just a bot anyway. Have gone out and got my Xmas tree and a Xmas train to go around it. Now just need to set aside an area in the lounge and set them up

Decorations, trees and trimmings are less important to me and my family, than music. I have in my collection every Xmas song ever recorded - it's Xmas when I put the music on. Of course, it doesn't hurt that there will soon be two feet of snow on the ground. 🎅

I guess I can see why you get excited early. We do not get snow, if any, until around late February or early March. But come the week after Christmas I am ready for Spring as well.

Well I made a start on it. Went shopping for tree ornaments for my new home and some lights. I have those auto-eye candles in the windows all year
since I am in the woods LOL I cant quite jump start the rest. I worked at a division of BBBY for 15+ years and the music started 11/1- so bad that one Canadian customer asked me if we got hazard pay. Last year I moved five
days before CD and got acute tree at Walmart two days before Christmas Eve for $5.00!!! Not sure I'll wait that long this time.
My favorite part is driving around looking at all the outdoor lights. Might not happen since I moved to the boonies

I'm sorry to say that favorite part is when it's over. We've had some bitter cold days for about a week and this Kansas wind doesn't help, but it does keep the ground stiff enough that I don't have to walk through too much mud at work.

We kind of have a tradition of putting up the Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving and taking them down New Year's day. I think we'll scale back a bit on the decorating this year, no kids at home and we aren't hosting family on Christmas.

We've hosted my side of the family (about 25 people) on Christmas day for the last 10 years. My niece volunteered (got conned) into hosting this year. LOL.

Sounds like your really getting into the spirit of the Holidays I so wish I could as I can't remember the last time we even celebrated Christmas as its been years. I miss it so much but it's just not the same with the kids all grown and on their own spread out every where. I wish it would snow here, but nope that doesn't happen either.

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

Very beautiful your photos, the decoration of Christmas is very cool to keep the tradition I think it's cool, I always have at heart in helping those who do not have the minimum for Christmas so they can have some comfort at heart!

My favourite part is the look of wonder on the small children's faces.

Please don't wish snow on me yet....let me get Christmas out of the way first....you have seen pics of the snow here and I have to drive!!!

NO Christmas decorating before T-Day !!!! And whatever happened to the 12 days of Christmas, doesnt that start on Dec 12th? My family NEVER put up a tree more than 2 weeks before Christmas when I was a kid, nor do I. I may buy new ornaments before T-Day, but I put the ma away until tree time.
My 1st wife had a biz that was called, "Christmas All The Year-Round" and it thrived for a few years, but eventually went bankrupt, I dont know why, but I can imagine. Firrst fight we ever had was over out FIRST Christmas tree, when to take it down??? A 'live" tree, it stayed up till Memorial Day weekend, needles all on the skirt, just bare branches lite & ornaments, and a firetrap so we didnt dare turn on the lites for months before that! So she was taking a nap on the Sat of that weekend, and I TOOK IT DOWN!!!! When she awoke, OMG what a fight! After that a rule was made, tree MUST come down on or before V-Day !

    Quoting  :

Ah, I didn't hide it well, did I? For me, holidays are all about family, and this the only part of living this far away that sucks.

Not for Thanksgiving...it's just too far for such a short period. And going for Thanksgiving then staying through New Year's is too long. I do get there in time for school Christmas events for my nieces and granddaughters...so that is my "official" start of the holidays.

We do manage to cram a LOT of family fun while I am there..and I suspect if I was there longer, we might not be as motivated to do that.
